I got my 1st fish in 4th grade when my teacher gave it to me on the last day of school. It was a black molly (named 'Blackie'). I started with a very "faux" look (fake plants, red/black gravel, etc) but got pulled into the idea of natural. My tank's gone through a lot of changes- I don' think I'll ever settle on a look!!

Advice:
Research, Research, Research! You can never have enough knowledge. Always know what requirements the species you're interested in need (ex., goldfish can NOT live in a bowl), and learn everything you can about setting up a new tank- from cycling to planting to adding fish. The best kind of consumer is an educated one.

I got into the fish hobby because my job was unnecessarily stressful and I would worry about it on my days off...Basically, caring for the fish was a distraction. After I got started with a 20 gallon tower I was addicted. I had a bought an 110 gallon upgrade within 4 months. I love it! I have been a hobbyist for a total of 5 months now (currently 6/2010). Google is my #1 resource when researching fish or plants for my tanks.

Take your time and make sure that your plants, fish, etc are all compatible. It's a lot easier to use what you have naturally, than it is to try and chemically alter needed conditions.

I have always loved fish but never really bothered. One day i walked into a pet store and bought a tank some fish and here we are.

I have 2 black neon's, 1 Black ghost knife, 2 bala sharks, 2 Pengasus, 1 Rainbow shark(That owns the tank), 1 Rope fish and 1 Pleco - Suckermouth catfish.
