About Yourself: Loved my freshwater tank as a child, but wanted to get into something more serious and different now as an adult, many years later. I discovered that very few brackish tanks make up the percentage of household aquariums, and wanted to give myself a challenge. I found that with the right research, these unique aquaria are very inexpensive and very interesting to say the least.
Fish Kept: - 3 juvinile mono argentus - 1 adolescent mono sebae
Corals/Plants: No live plants. This environment was aquascaped to mimick delta to open ocean environments. Lots of open space for the monos to swim and mature. No preditors. Argonite sand substrate, lava and coral rock, and seashells. Fake coral.
Tank Size: 38 gallons
Advice: ALWAYS cycle a tank before putting fish into it. This is especially true of many brackish species who need the bacteria to be healthy. Know your fish as well when you buy. Research, research, and then research. Forums are great places to look up info on your species of choice. Also, be wary when purchasing brackish species. Many of them are kept in fresh water due to the inconsistancy of retailer info. Most "brackish" species, or those labelled as such, do much better in a proper brackish environment. A great example are figure 8 puffers, who are much healthier and happier (and less stressed) in brackish waters, as that is their natural habitat.

About Yourself: I used to have a great aquarium similar to this (not nearly as heavily planted as this one, but a few live plants) some 20 years ago. Gave it away in a move and regretted it. Finally got a new one and love it. I don't even turn on the TV in the evenings any more.
Fish Kept: Zebra Danios, Neon Tetras, Tiger Barbs and Swordtails.
Corals/Plants: Echindodourus Subalatus; Egeria Densa; Eleocharis Acicularis; Java Fern; Echinodorus Red Rubin; Nymphea Stellata; Marisilea Quadrifolia; Ludwigia Repens; Moneywort; Myriophyllum Aquaticum (Green); Rotala sp. Nanjenshan; Anubius Barteri Var Angustifolia; Hemianthus Micrathemodes and a couple of others.
Tank Size: 28 gallons
Advice: Start out with a good substrate to avoid a cloudy, messy addition later on. Then get as many different kinds of plants as you can.
