About Yourself:
I have a lot of experience of fishkeeping, but not with growing plants... so we'll see how it goes!
Fish Kept:
Platies, corydoras julii, bristlenose plec
Corals/Plants:
Cabomba, dwarf hairgrass, java fern, java moss
Advice:
Do your research and choose fish which are relatively undemanding. If you plan to grow live plants but have only the standard lighting that was provided with the aquarium, be sure to choose species which thrive under low light.

About Yourself:
Loved my freshwater tank as a child, but wanted to get into something more serious and different now as an adult, many years later. I discovered that very few brackish tanks make up the percentage of household aquariums, and wanted to give myself a challenge. I found that with the right research, these unique aquaria are very inexpensive and very interesting to say the least.
Fish Kept:
- 3 juvinile mono argentus
- 1 adolescent mono sebae
Corals/Plants:
No live plants. This environment was aquascaped to mimick delta to open ocean environments. Lots of open space for the monos to swim and mature. No preditors.
Argonite sand substrate, lava and coral rock, and seashells. Fake coral.
Tank Size:
38 gallons
Advice:
ALWAYS cycle a tank before putting fish into it. This is especially true of many brackish species who need the bacteria to be healthy. Know your fish as well when you buy. Research, research, and then research. Forums are great places to look up info on your species of choice.
Also, be wary when purchasing brackish species. Many of them are kept in fresh water due to the inconsistancy of retailer info. Most "brackish" species, or those labelled as such, do much better in a proper brackish environment. A great example are figure 8 puffers, who are much healthier and happier (and less stressed) in brackish waters, as that is their natural habitat.
