The work is worth the reward. once it's running it's not as much work. Tests are a must.
About Yourself:
Had a tank 18 yrs. ago and could not keep it. Wife got this one for $60/w stand and we have been loving it since we set it up. Only running for 7 months but just love it. My 5 yr. old son is known at the fish store more then me. Great learning tool for everyone in the family. But it does not come cheap. the more you know the more it cost. But oh well it's worth it!
Fish Kept:
2-clown fish, 2-fire goby, 1-cleaner wrasse, 1-yellow watchman goby,1-yellow clown goby,1-blackray shrimp goby, 2-cleaner shrimp, 3 emerald crabs, 1- sally lightfoot crab, 1-diamond goby,1 dragon pipe fish and lots of hermit crabs, snails & baby star fish. My shrimps had babies too. (Really cool)
Corals/Plants:
1-corkscrew anemone, mushroom coral, 1-grape coral, 1-brain coral, 1-small Atlantic anemone, 1 bubble coral, 1 kenya coral, button polyp corals, star polyp corals, several small feathers dusters, and red kelp with lots of greenery.
Tank Size:
45 gallons
Advice:
Lighting and filtration very important. Watch which animals you mix together in the tank. They won't all get along, learned the hard way. READ everyone says it and they mean it.
PLEASE take your time, it's hard because you want it to look nice, but it's very important to let the tank develop. My 5 yr. old son knows more about the tank then my wife. And watch for electrical faliures cost me $250 (dead fish)for a $20 part.
Description:
Our tank blew a seam and we had to replace it. It was a long weekend. I will put up pictures of the new one later. This was our 45 gallon 5-sided tank. It is neat you get different looks from each of the 3 sides you view.

"dude....where's my fish?"
About Yourself:
Work in sales and design for a marketing and consulting business. Love saltwater fish, and hope to build my tank....it's a learning experience.
Fish Kept:
Yellow Tang, Diamond Goby, Lawnmower Blenny, Pair of percs
Inverts: Coral Banded and Cleaner Shrimp
Corals/Plants:
Small Pink button polyps, large red/green Zoo's, large rock of Green Star Polyps, few hammer frags
Tank Size:
36 gallons
Advice:
Read, Read, Read! I read up on the hobby for almost a year before buying anything. Patience. Easier to think your going to be patient than actually BEING patient. Take everything with a grain of salt. This is a very opinionated hobby. Save up a lot of money because you will need it. Learn what each piece of equipment does, and what it's purpose is. Study fish compatibility. Design your tank for YOU, not for what someone else tells you to do. Keep your fish happy.
