Corals/Plants:
Mostly assorted arrows, some cabomba, and wisteria
Tank Size:
20 gallons
Advice:
1) You can never over filter your tank. Get filtration for twice the volume of your tank and rig something up using filter floss to slow the current from the output so you don't create a whirlpool in your tank for the fish to constantly stress themselves swimming against. Don't change the filter media. Just rinse it out monthly in TANK WATER in a bucket when you do your monthly big water change.
2) Use live plants that anchor well after planting.
3) Aside from the occasional medicine (which I thankfully have never had to use)...the only products that you need are Seachem PRIME for water treatment and Seachem STABILITY which is a bacteria starter that actually works and can be used to help maintain your bio filter.
4) Feed every other day for six weeks after stocking and no more than six inches of fish per two weeks. 25% water change every other day during stocking and cycling.
5) Test the water (often). Know the water. LIVE the water!
6) 25% water change weekly. 75% with light gravel vacuum monthly.
7) Algae is for the birds unless you have algae eating fish. Subdue the lighting with strips of cheap packing tape on the hood glass under the lamp and keep the tank away from direct sunlight.

My first job (and favorite job) was at a local fish store in California which helped me really understand what was available to hobbiest and best care and products... Since then I can't seem to learn enough and swear I will only keep one tank at a time... yeah right! I have 3 right now. :)

I saw bubble-eye goldfishes at a petstore and it looked like it needed me to take care of them. It started with a few goldfish and plastic plants and I slowly replaced plastic with colorful plants that I thought would fit in well.
Fish Kept:
Three fancy goldfish (Golden Bubble-eye, Butterfly Black Moore, and Golden Ranchu), 8 white-cloud minnows, and one flower shrimp.
Corals/Plants:
Purple waffle (which is only semi-aquatic), Java moss, Java fern, Cryptocoryne, Red Ludwigia, Cyperus helferi, and a few other varieties.

Decide what is more important for you, the fish or the plants and accomdate accordingly.

Description:
48"x18"x24". Custom built stand and canopy, 192watts T8 lighting. Background is real slate siliconed in place. A Wide variety of very colourful African Cichlids (Super Red Empress, O. Lithobates, Aulonocara Baenshi, Lemon Yellow Jake, Labeotropheus, Cynotilapia Afra). Filtration is via three canister filters, one with a surface skimmer. Although not technically dedicated to plants, it also houses some beautiful Giant Hygro, Amazon Swords, and Red Hygro. Total Stock is currently 18 fish.
