About Yourself:
I haven't been in the game but more than a year, and I'm completely hooked. I've recently upgraded from a 36 gallon to a 75 gallon and made a breeding tank out of the 36 which currently houses about 30 molly fry. I'm just a college student with a few passions and fish keeping happens to be one of them!
I am a big animal person, have 3 dogs, cat, rabbit, and the fish of course, along with a half-boarded horse which I ride a few times a week. I'm going to school for Psychology and English to be a School Counselor and Teacher, and am currently rounding up my Associates and on to my Bachelor's. I am into photography, reading, writing, cars, hunting, fishing, hiking, and just nature in general.
Fish Kept:
Current Stock:
Ghost Catfish
Longfin Goldskirt Tetras
Swordtails
Mollies
Guppies
Neon Tetras
Cardinal Tetras
Bloodfin Tetras
Cherry Barbs
and my favorite member of my tank is the Black Mystery Snail I've named Waldo, because we can never find him!
Corals/Plants:
Plastic plants for the freshwater tank.
Tank Size:
75 gallons
Advice:
I've only just begun fish keeping in the past year, but my best advice would be to start slow and experiment with different things. Get a decent sized tank, but start with a small school of 5 or 6 fish and build from there. Once you get the hang of one aspect, move on to the next. I've had my fair share of casualties because I didn't know what I was doing, and I'm still learning. There are a lot of things to learn about balancing the water levels and proper care. It's so much more than, "throw a few fish in there, feed them, watch them," but that's what makes it so much fun and I'm sure if it wasn't so involving that it wouldn't have so many enthusiasts. You can literally create an entire world inside your tank and there is a lot of time and effort that goes into creating a beautiful, and successful, tank.
Description:
I recently upgraded to this 75 gallon, it's definitely a work in progress but the most recent set up. I ran out of plants lol and I need a background still. I've kind of been in the "wait and see" stage. As you can see it's taken on a tropical theme. There is a bubble wall across the back, all three ornaments are powered by air pump too. The volcano has air bubbles "erupting" and an LED light inside, the hut has a spinning wheel and chimney bubbles, and the waterfall has bubbles shooting upward. Tanks a bit cloudy but not as bad as it looks in the pic. I'm working on that, I think I was adding too much conditioner. Anyway this is my first pic, there will definitely be more once I get more settled in to the tank.

1 Blue Gourami
2 Forktail Rainbowfish
1 Dwarf Rainbowfish
2 Balloon Mollies
1 Black Molly
2 Silver Lyretail Mollies
3 Sunfire Platys
1 Veiltail Red Beta - Male.
Corals/Plants:
No live plants or corals
Tank Size:
30 gallons
Advice:
Do as much research in to the type of fish you would like and set up a tank that meets their specific needs. Having a larger than needed filter keeps the tank wonderfully clean. Bubble wands/air pumps help circulate the oxygen in the tank while also adding a wow factor to your display.
