If you don't do it, it won't hurt.
About Yourself:
My sister had an impressive 30g tank when we were younger, but she has long since lost interest in fishkeeping. My cousin had/has a beautiful 80g tank that really inspired me. Of course, when I found my 120 on Craigslist, I had to go for it (can't beat great deals!)
I also had a 10g tank I meant to get dwarf puffers for. I bought what I was told was a Dwarf Puffer (it was only about 1" long at the time). After I got it home I found out it was a Fahaka Puffer, which needed a much bigger home (hence the 120g). He grew to about 18" long, and is now the proud showpiece at our LFS in a 280g storefront showcase.
Fish Kept:
Currently:
30+ Cichlids
Rainbow shark
Comet Goldfish
2 plecos
Used to own:
Fahaka Puffer
and other misc fish.
Corals/Plants:
Unsure - cheap at the LFS, bought a bunch.
Tank Size:
120 gallons
Advice:
Go big or stay home. Larger tanks are easier to care for, and much more impressive.

Finding Nemo: Bruce the Shark, "Fish are friends...not food"
Fish Kept:
2 Neon Blue Dwarf Gouramis, 3 Pink Glo-Fish, 1 Bala Shark, 1 Blood Red Parrot, 1 Plecostomus (aka. Plecosaurusrex), 1 Swartz's Corydoras Cat, 1 Pictus Cat, 2 Bamboo Shrimp, 1 Marble Angel Fish and 1 Silver Veil Angel Fish.
Corals/Plants:
Various types of resin ornaments and rocks
Tank Size:
75 gallons
Advice:
New tanks, specially the larger sizes take time and leave more room for error. Go to your local fish store and ask questions before you buy, I recommend a local "Mom and Pop" store, not a big chain store that rotate staff faster then the stock in their tanks. Get advise from the "professionals" and follow it. Most of all, have patience, patience, patience, patience, patience, and more patience.

About Yourself:
Brand new to the hobby. Hope to learn a great deal from the "pro's" on this site. Already have learned much from you guys. By the looks of the tanks found here, and the advice I have found thus far, this site is an excellent resource for beginners.

10 juvenile mixed african, lake malawi, and 2 frontosas (holding their own), with one siamese algae eater.
Corals/Plants:
medium sized gravel substrate, plants are all fake. 29 lbs of Texas Holey rock, with 10 lbs mexican beach rock, with mexican slate.
Tank Size:
38 gallons
Advice:
I have learned that I don't know enough and always need to keep reading. Do your research on your fish. Over filtration is worth the money.
