Fish Inventory:
Ive had this tank for under a year now. I have a 125 gallon tank made into a community tank with assorted South African Cichlids, a Albino and a Tiger Oscar, Afra Cichlid, Tiger Barbs, Severums, Tire Track and a Peacock Eel, Danio Minnows, Red Tail Rainbow Shark, Silver Dollars, Plecos and more...over 50 fish in there right now
Removed:
Leporinus-Violent killed high fin banded shark
Red Belly Pacu-Too big too fast and pretty aggressive
Corals/Plants:
Live Rocks, Variety of fake plants. I place life plants here and there for the fish to feed on.
Tank Size:
125 gallons
Advice:
Plan what you want to do with the tank otherwise be ready to spend a whole lot of money on fish. Also if your starting community and unaware if they are compatible keep a night light for them cause they may get eaten over night

I use a 48" T5 double ballast light,
a Fluval405 filter, Aqueon 30-60
waterfall filter. I have Led lights
for a little extra color and a
curtain wand to keep the fish more
active. Most of my plants are
artificial but I have 50 lbs of live
rocks in there for the new small
cichlids that were born. I have a
splitter in tank to separate Albino
Oscar since he ate a dozen of my
other cichlids in there. I have a
little over 50 fish in there right
now. I had an addiction to buy.
Slowing down letting it chill and
run their course. Enjoyable little
hobby

About Yourself:
Every since I was little girl I've had a fish tank (minus 5 yrs). I recall going to the fish store with my dad to pick out fish.... We would spend nearly every weekend going to some kind of fish store just to check things out. Plus my dad used to raise hard to find cichlids. - My home isn't complete without a fish tank!! I have earned both a BSc and MSc in Biology and I find the relationships of the flora and fauna of the environment very interesting.
Fish Kept:
2 Discus (~4" tall), 4 Angelfish (each size of a quarter), 5 rummy nose tetras, 1 ghost knife (5" long), 1 ablino and 1 bronze cory catfish, 4 black skirted tetras, 5 serpa tetras, 10 cardinal tetras, 5 more assorted painted or skirt tetras not mentioned, 3 assorted fancy goldfish, 1 Chinese high-fin banded loach, 1 lonely rasbora and 1 Chinese algae eater. (Yeah probably a few too many, but if asked to thin out the 'school' I wouldn't know who to give up. So I just make sure water 30% changes and canister filter (ehiem) cleaning are maintained.)
Corals/Plants:
Seven assorted amazon sword plants, java moss, various sizes. I don't mind if the fish eat them - They are good for the water and the fish!
Tank Size:
66 gallons
Advice:
My advice to a new hobbyist would be to recognize that every tropical fish hobbyist will have a different set of ideas on how to set-up and take care of your fish and tank. Consider the sources. Start out small 15 gallon. For example I have had fish tanks nearly my whole life and I got my partner into the hobby. I'm of the mind that a tank will generally work itself out and the more you mess with it the more frustrated you will get. He prefers to be more involved with his tank than I do mine. I do not recommend making more than one change at a time. It is the only way to determine if what you have done will have positive results. Keep an eye on your pH. Do not purchase scaleless fish (loaches, plecos, black/blue sharks, ghost knives, eels, elephants and so on) until your pH is balanced for the fish you want to keep. Don't buy expensive fish right off the bat. Don't let people worry you about starter or 'sacrifice' fish (Cory catfish, guppies, tetras). Your fish can go for a few days without food, so its better to underfeed everyday than to overfeed everyday. - Go with the "KISS Method" -- Keep it super simple. Good luck! - OH one more thing!! The colors displayed on the fish are a good indicator that they are stressed - and always ask when the fish you're looking at was shipped in. Purchasing an all ready stressed fish is not good - the likelihood they'd perish increases substantially.
On a positive note!! The book The Dummies Guide to Aquariums is a pretty good read...simple terms - buy it used on the web...

Forgive quality of picture. Android phone takes marginal picture. In the image there is also the best chair in the house to watch the fish.

You have the right to your own oppinion. But just because you have an oppinion, that doesn't make you right.
Fish Kept:
Central and South American Community.
1 - large common plecto (not seen in pic, nice hi-fin variety - cool fish)
1 - medium chocolate plecto (really dark brown, almost black, also camera shy),
3 - blood parrots (ruby, gold, and gold with black)
1 - rainbow cichlid,
1- bocarti cichlid,
1- black convict (rescued, poor fin condition),
2 - clown loaches,
1 - synadonis cat (hardly every seen!)
1 - blue acara,
1 - large red hook (not seen in picture, either)
The Betas in the front belong to my boys and have now moved into a new Eclipse 3 with a divider! NEAT! Not as many water changes for them! YEA!
Corals/Plants:
Plants are a nice snack for these guys, so plastics are used to give a lush appearance. Real plants are added as a treat for them!
Tank Size:
200 gallons
Advice:
Purchase the largest tank you can afford that you are willing to do proper water changes on!!! Get your water changing system down to a science to make this chore less of a pain. A necessary evil!!!

About Yourself:
Just had the itch one day and bought a few Bettas and kept going from there. I have an interest in saltwater tanks, however my pocket book does not currently share the same interest. I just aquired a 120 gallon tank and am in the process of setting it up for saltwater

About Yourself:
I am a stay at home mom and my husband is in school, so he is busy studying at night, so I wanted a hobby and I love animals. when I started researching I was intrigued by how difficult it really is. I always thought you just throw fish into a tank...but that is NOT the case! I did not anticipate how much it does cost to start from scratch!!! $$$$
Fish Kept:
2 female mickey mouse platy, 3 cherry barb(1 male, 2 female), 5 x-ray tetra, 1 male kribensis, 1 sunset thicklip gourami, 5 marble hatchet fish
Corals/Plants:
mix of artificial plants and live plants...java fern and anubias. floating plants are hornwort and wisteria.
Tank Size:
20 gallons
Advice:
take it slow adding fish. and read, read, read. I googled lots of different forums, every one has different opinions. I curbed my appetite for wanting new fish by decorating the tank instead for now.
