About Yourself: Well, I got into this hobby thru my father approx 20 years back. He had a 6x1.5x1.5 feet tank in which he used to have an assortment of fishes. Over the years I have been inclined to move over to Cichlids and Arowana. Amongst Cichlids Oscar are very popular aquarium fish. These intelligent Cichlids are preferred by many aquarists because of their great individuality and character.
Fish Kept: Oscars and Arowana
Corals/Plants: None..... Only Stones and Gravel for the Oscar Tank and Silk Plants / Drift Wood / Gravel for the Arowana Tank
Tank Size: 260 gallons
Advice: Keep as close to nature as possible

About Yourself: Had fish years ago as a kid, now an adult I can better justify the expence. In six months I've gone from 1 5gal tank to this including three breeding tanks. O' what a twisted web we weave.......
Fish Kept: ‘Red Empress’ Protomelas taeniolatus ‘Pearl of Likoma’ Melanochromis joanjohnsonae ‘Blue Acara’ Aequidens pulcher (I know they have to go. But I started with these guys and well ...... ) ‘Electric Yellow’ Labidochromis caeruleus ‘Common Bristlenose’ Ancistrus sp ‘Leopard Pleco’ Glyptoperichthys gibbiceps Pseudotropheus Saulosi
Corals/Plants: anubias alferi anubias sp. plus the large etch ... (this is going too).
Tank Size: 160 gallons
Advice: Don't rush to add fish to your tank, make sure it is cycled properly. Buy as much filtration as you can afford. Buy only fish that a compatable with your tank and it's set up. Also only buy good, clean, colorful stock. A little bit of extra money here saves much disapointment later.

About Yourself: Work in IT. Kept fish tanks for about 15 years. Also have a marine tank. I hope to set up a ciclid tank in the near future.
Fish Kept: Cumminuty fish. Tetras, Harlequins, Tigerbarb, Hoplo Cat. Only recently set the tank up so I hope to add more soon.
Corals/Plants: All Plastic. I'm getting a bit lazy these days.
Tank Size: 40 gallons
Advice: Keep your fridge stocked with beer, chocolate and cake. OK, so it's got nothing to do with fish, but its still good advice!!! You need to have something to do while your watching the tank!!!

About Yourself: got into the hobby from my 2 year old son. we went to get him a betta and bowl, walked out with a 30 gallon and some tropicals. upgraded him to a 55, and bought myself a 75! It is so addicting.
Fish Kept: cichlids, all malawi. mix of peacocks, haps, labs, mbuna. all range from 1" to about 4". There are 35 total. i think i have about outgrown the tank. a 130 gallon is next.
Corals/Plants: have 10 live plants, and slowly adding more to replace the plastic ones to get the natural feel both for myself and the fish. they are a mix of plants from the plant store, which one day i will gather the ones that they don't eat.
Tank Size: 75 gallons
Advice: if your going to get into the hobby, as some call it, be prepared with extra funds over your budget. there is tons that you won't realize you need until, you need it. give it your all, to get the most out of your fish, they should be healthy. they'll bemore active, colorful, and interact with you much differently when healthy. Last, do not take advice from people who work at the national chain petstores!!! Seek online forums and sites for more acurate information to your questions. My intro to fish was a 1o gallon and three oscars, which was advised by the 17 yr old worker at the pet store. big big mistake.

About Yourself: I got into the hobby accidently. Almost 1yr ago I helped my friends brother move and his recent x-girlfriend pawned off a full setup on me and my girlfriend (now wife, yikes). I thought dang i dont kno anything about this. So I started surfing the net, got hooked and the rest is history. And yes, I watch my tank more than tv and my wife does get a little jealous, but she loves 'em too.
Fish Kept: African Cichlids and others:, 1 Yellow Lab mutt, 1 true Yellow Lab, 1 Yellow perlmutt, 1 Electric Blue Ahli, 1 Blue Acai (crooked mouth), 1 Compressorceps, 1 Giraffe (crooked mouth), 1 Johanni, 2 Kenyi, 1 Blue Face peacock, 1 Red Jacobfrebergi peacock, 1 OB calico peacock, 1 Livingstonii, 1 Auratus, 1 Labidotropheus, 3 unidentified Cichlids, 1 Synodontis cat (1 stripe), some of these might be hybrids,
Corals/Plants: Substrate:
Top Fin white peagravel (coated not best for benificial bacteria colonies, looks better than it functions)

Rock:
Native Minnesota Limestone Slate (keeps my KH up and helps balance PH and GH)

Plants:
2 types of anubias
lots of Javafern
some crypts
some vals
lots of various algae (amazing filters!, keeps my nitrates zeroed out, and dietary supliment for fish)
never had an algae bloom (green water)
Tank Size: 55 gallons
Advice: Without a solid understanding and active respect for the "nitrogen cycle" your fish will die. Don't throw away your money, effort, and emotions. However you don't need to be a chemist, biologist, let alone zoologist to be a good aquarium keeper. If you teach yourself the foundational basics you will create amazing tanks and enjoy keeping fish for many years to come.

About Yourself: My parents always kept tropical fish when i was little so i got my own tank when i moved out. I started off with a very small tank and worked my way up. I really enjoy keeping my tank and fish healthy.
Fish Kept: I have 3 silver dollars 1 marble angel fish 2 kissing gourami 1 dwarf gourami (cherry) 2 three spot gourami 9 glow light tetra 3 cat fish 1 common pleco (small at the minute) and 2 sucking loach.
Corals/Plants: I have lots of java fern the only thing that my silver dollars dont try to eat. I also have Anubias & water primrose both of which my dollars love to eat. The rest of my tank is planted with some plastic plants which do the job. I have just got myself some moss balls for the tank which are ment to help reduce alge growth and they look unusual too.
Tank Size: 40 gallons
Advice: Just keep trying. And remember water changes are the most important part of a healthy tank do them regular!
