Advice:
Consider using rain water. No chemical treatment required and ideal for plants and fish suited to soft water.
Our collected rainwater has a PH of 5.0, but fortunately this is being naturally buffered to 7.0 by the large pink rocks seen in the aqurium.
Try to understock the aquarium.
Some plants were planted in shallow plastic dishes containing organic fertiliser covered with sand and gravel.

About Yourself:
Fell into fishkeeping when my daughter came home with a small Rena tank containing an unwanted red tail shark (aka rainbow shark). He's still in there, not risking him in the community! This is my first 'proper' tank.

Corals/Plants:
swords, tiger lillies, cabomba, hornwort, moss balls, water wisteria+ more; about 10 different species in there.
Tank Size:
26 gallons
Advice:
Read, read, read. Then read some more.

About Yourself:
Started about 22 years ago with a 10 gallon tank and over the years I have moved up to a 55 gallon. Have always done freshwater but hope to someday do saltwater.
Fish Kept:
Fish include---5 neon tetras, 4 rose barbs, khuli loach, 5 gold barbs, platys, 4 comets.
Corals/Plants:
We recently changed over from gravel to sand and love the ease of cleaning. Plants are plastic. Logs are store bought and we have a few rocks scattered.
Tank Size:
55 gallons
Advice:
Read as much as you can. Most is done by trial and error. Do what you feel comfortable with. You can spend as little as you want or as much as you want. This is the perfect hobby for every lifestyle.
Description:
our 55 gallon tank. Variety of fish with all plastic plants. We recently changed from gravel to sand and LOVE the ease of cleaning and the fish love it too.
