Quote: Never forget the poly layer under the tank; take it from one who knows... :o
About Yourself: Fell into fishkeeping when my daughter came home with a small Rena tank containing an unwanted red tail shark (aka rainbow shark). He's still in there, not risking him in the community! This is my first 'proper' tank.
Fish Kept: Guppies (25+), platys (4), Siamese fighters (1m, 1f), cherry red shrimp, 2 bristlenose pleco, 1 bristlenose cat, 5 neons, 10 black bar endlers, 1 cavefish, 2 pineapple swordtails, 5 gold mountain minnows, 5 glass fish; separate tank has 1 angel (small), 1 balloon mollie and 1 full grown rainbow shark.
Corals/Plants: swords, tiger lillies, cabomba, hornwort, moss balls, water wisteria+ more; about 10 different species in there.
Tank Size: 26 gallons
Advice: Read, read, read. Then read some more.

About Yourself: Started about 22 years ago with a 10 gallon tank and over the years I have moved up to a 55 gallon. Have always done freshwater but hope to someday do saltwater.
Fish Kept: Fish include---5 neon tetras, 4 rose barbs, khuli loach, 5 gold barbs, platys, 4 comets.
Corals/Plants: We recently changed over from gravel to sand and love the ease of cleaning. Plants are plastic. Logs are store bought and we have a few rocks scattered.
Tank Size: 55 gallons
Advice: Read as much as you can. Most is done by trial and error. Do what you feel comfortable with. You can spend as little as you want or as much as you want. This is the perfect hobby for every lifestyle.

Fish Kept: Neons, Guppies, Swordtails, Angel Fish, Mollies, Kuhli Loaches, Silver (Bala) Sharks, Bristlenose Catfish, Clown Loach, Platy, Bolivian Ram Cichild... about 37 all up just to start out with...
Corals/Plants: Sandstone Feature Rocks, Real Wood (Gum Tree) Features, Lace Fern, Ambulia, Thin Val Reed, Moss, Giant Hairgrass, Water Sprite, Blue Stricta, Duck Weed.
Tank Size: 70 gallons
Advice: CLEAN Your Gravel, then clean it again! Setup Plants before putting in water. Hold you plants down but poking them through stocking or net, then cover with gravel. Feature stones are easy to find for free - just look around outside! Decide on STYLE of fish before buying - large fish eat neons! Clean feature rocks first - avoid using sandstone - makes dusty water and can disitigrate in water over time. Avoid fake anything!!! eg: Fake plants, fake ornaments, fake rocks, fake gravel - just looks cheap.
