start off slow, it takes time to start a salt water tank, have patience buy protein skimmers that are bigger then needed, get metal halides their the best.

I have always loved having a fish tank. I have had freshwater fish for about five years now and just about 2 months ago I decide to take up the challege of having a reef tank. Since then, I have found out that everything for a reef tank is double or even triple the cost of a freshwater tank.
