Was into tropical fish when i was a young boy, and now my son got me back into the hobby, its expensive but so worth it in the end.
Fish Kept:
Hemichromis guttatus,Metriaclima estherae, Sciaenochromis fryeri, common pleco.
Corals/Plants:
Aponogeton, Dwarf lily, Hair grass,sword.
Tank Size:
55 gallons
Advice:
Buy your tank and cycle it, BEFORE you buy fish.
Be prepared because properly owning a fish tank is like having a part-time job, between water changes, checking the parameters, etc. If you dont have the time for it, dont do it.

very new to this i got my first aquarium in jan 09
i feed my fish a variety of cichlid pellets, flake food, betta color enhancing pellets(that is their favorite), and live guppies that i breed in a smaller tank.
Fish Kept:
2 plecos, 2 pistus catfish, 4 pairs of assorted african cichlids, and one trio of africans.

We have 3 tanks and can't wait until we have enough room for another one!
Fish Kept:
55 GAL:1 Blackbelt cichlid, 1 Johanni cichlid, 1 venustus, 2 Acei, 2 frontosas, 2 obliquidens (breeding pair), 3 electric yellows(breeding pair + 1 male), and 2 fish i'm not sure of. 30 GAL: 2 green spotted puffers, 1 african leaf fish, and 1 tire track eel. 40 GAL: lots of our cichlid's babies...our cichlids in the 55 gal breed a lot
Corals/Plants:
All fake plants(cichlids eat the real ones and sometimes pull up the fake ones too), seashells, wood, and a variety of rocks. The bottom of the tank is covered with brown gravel
Tank Size:
30 gallons
Advice:
Buy fish you really love; they make the tank. Also, a good light is crucial if you want your fish to look their prettiest.

About Yourself:
I had to sell my old tanks.. :( and I just got 2 new ones. I had my 30 gallon and other tanks for close to two years before I had to sell them and I've had my new tanks for about 3 weeks now.

Started my new 10 gallons with 5 White Clouds in each to cycle it and just bought a beautiful Betta, 4 Ottos and 4 beautiful Cherry Barbs.

All fake unfortunately...

Research a lot it really helped me, clean your tank at least once a week and the most important thing is to have fun.

i find watching ny fish (and crab r.i.p.) vry chillin i can sit in front of it for hours when not working or lookin after the kids (misses and 1 lad) lol!!

1x gurami.1x silver shark. 1x red tail shark 1x black sword tail male 1x clown loach.1x minnow the sole survivor of a bunch of 5 from 6mths ago.2x botia vry feisty.2x eel. 2x upside down.1x pleco. i also have 2 sets of 2 that i have forgotten the name of but will find out an update asap 2 are silver tiger print and 2 are small fish with black, yellow, white tip fins.... i also had a red clawed crab in there till only 2 weeks ago that had been in there 4 mths but all of a sudden has gone...vry puzzled!!! it got on vry well in the community tank....mostly chillin on top of the filter...

selction of rocks,plastic plant and a couple of glass boulders i found on a building ste (look vry nice in the bubbling rock area)

i would'nt like to give any too much advice just yet as i am a pretty new hobbyist....only be careful of fish you buy checking they look healthy..be wary of splitt fins..and also take ur time also dont rush things .....i did .....and it cost me dearly but was a lesson learned...
