If it ain't broke, don't fix it!!
About Yourself:
I am Mark. I live in Wirral, England, UK and I am half Swedish. I am 34(almost)!!! And live alone with my aquatic life and my Cat Jodie!!! iIhave a partner who lives in Liverpool and life is fab!!!!! I have always adored aquariums and in general aquatic life since being a very young child when my Mum and Dad got me a goldfish!!! My partner also has a tropical set up.
Fish Kept:
Coldwater stock at present
Corals/Plants:
Elodea Crispa. I have 3 bunches and I personally find them to be one of the best oxygenators, they do however shed a little, so do skim the loose leaves off the surface with your net.
Dead easy, dont be put off!!!
Tank Size:
7 gallons
Advice:
Keep on top of your aquatic life, they are living creatures just like us and MUST be treated as such!! Filters MUST be kept in pristine condition and the cheapest may seem great, but for how long? We love our aquatic life, but dont be too tempted to keep getting"just one more fish" It soon becomes overcrowded, leading to numerous future trouble.

About Yourself:
given tank and set it up 2 months ago. This is my second given tank. iI just must be a fishy character.
I love all forms of fishing too!!!!
Fish Kept:
3 kissing gourami
1 clown loach
3 pepper cat
1 plec
11 neons
2 ruddy headed tetra
1 sucking loach
4 guppies
Corals/Plants:
2 amazon sword plants
2 plastic
Tank Size:
20 gallons
Advice:
read read read. avoid snails. dont prod too much and use natural looking surroundings ie real plants and natural rock
Description:
After some snail population explosion i restarted my set up by getting rid of the old subtrate and cleaning the tank with boiled water.Snails now under control.
New 10mm golden gravel thoroughly rinsed and releveled to provide structure and good subtrate for future plantings.
Gravel now 2" deep rising to 8" deep. This give the occupants a sense of deeper water in the left side whilst giving the protection of margins on the right. On the right I have errected a series of caves and dark places for the pleco and sucking loach. This seems to work well but enables me to see all fish even when they are in their caves.
since i last logged on Ive also added 7 more neon tetras but lost the siamese fighting fish.

Corals/Plants:
crushed coral gravel . red and brown rock which was originally salt water rock.

Advice:
weekly filter changes will keep your water crystle clear .the position of your filters can also make a big difference. clean your glass weekly , the longer you leave it the harder it gets to clean.i only replace water in my tank as it evaporates so i can be sure to keep as much good bacteria in the tank as possible.
