started with a 10 gallon tank with guppies, then i got a 60 gallon corner tank with neon tetras, glo fish gave the 10 gallon to my sister and bought the 70 and no i am icthing to get a bigger tank maybe about 125gallon. my family and friends have said that i left my DVD collection to now collect cichlids. because i would buy a lot of DVDS no i spend my money on my fish. lol

Lace rock, sand subtrate, fake plants, and some pvc pipe in the sand for some good hiding places.

Advice:
i am new to cichlids and everyone enjoys them in my house, i do 70 % water changes two times a month but it is very worth it.

About Yourself:
I am a male singer/songwriter from central Scotland.I have a wife and 12 year old son who is also very interested in tropicals and has asked for his own tank to keep ONE arrowana!! (he probably will get one).

Community fishes _ angels,platys,guppies etc.
Corals/Plants:
A nice big artificial piece of coral that is very easy to keep and does not require special light.:).
Tank Size:
50 gallons
Advice:
Change adequate amount of water weekly or at least every ten or so days to keep your fishes healthy and happy.Do NOT overfeed as this adds to water problems.If you have fed your fishes and come home with that bag of live brine shrimp or bloodworm, it is tempting to feed straight away but put them away till its time to feed them again.

hard to show the scale size of 'big george' the parrot cichlid but the severum he is next to is all of 7-8 inches

This is my third tank in 10 years or so and really wanted a reef tank but cant spare the time with 4 kids! so settled on a malawi tank with lots of ocean rock. Happy with it now finally

Mainly Malawi's with 2 clown loach and a few tanganyikans plus 3 catfish

A few plastic plants and a fake skull to keep my sons happy

Advice:
Dont go for the first idea you have, take a long time to decide on what you want and buy the biggest and best equipment you can. What seems a good idea when you start will annoy you after a week and then you will be throwing it all out and starting again, ££££££ choose wisely and enjoy

1 yoyo loach, 1 featherfin catfish, 2 electric blue ram cichlids, 4 ruby barbs, 2 green tiger barbs, 2 albino tiger barbs, 1 parrot cichlid and 1 albino bushy nose pleco.

1 wisteria, 1 moss ball and i cant remember the rest.

i like variety in my fish tanks. lots of different fish, rocks plants. i dont like the look at the same thing twice in one tank. I also think you should keep things natural. down with plastics, fake plants and chemicals.
