Not much of a greenthumb yet.... i will be setting up a large tank when my livingroom is redone, i know i have silver dollars but I figure that if there is enough then they might keep me from pruning and that there is also some plants they wont eat, but need to do more research for sure before attempting.

About Yourself:
I'm a Civil Engineer so I work long hours but I love to relax by watching my fish which are so theraputic.
Started when I was a kid with a bowl and a goldfish and have built up ever since. Now, 20 years on I'm still as mad as ever and have just moved onto keeping Cichlids and i'm loving it.
I'm still learning about cycling the tank and feeding habits and I would be grateful for any comments or advice you can all give.
Fish Kept:
10 African Mbuna Cichlids and 1 7" Plec.
Only just started stocking Cichlids and I love them. The Plec is about 18 months old and still growing.
Corals/Plants:
All natural rocks and 3 plastic plants.
Tank Size:
53 gallons
Advice:
Start simple and build up with experience. Always listen to advice from the experts. Oh, and enjoy it!

I'm 15 years old and this all started as a science project in the 7th grade (2 to 3 years ago) with a 10g and 4 black widow tetras to observe how many times they open and close their mouth in a minute but after the project was over I was hooked on fish, then a few months later I got a long 20g tank then a 55g tank

55g- 6 long finned black widow tetras, 4 regular finned black widow tetras, 4 angelfish, 1 common pleco
10g-3 red eyed tetras, 3 x-ray tetas, 1 false julli cory, 2 otto's
2.5g divided- 1 male betta on each side
2.5g divided- 1 male betta on each side
Corals/Plants:
none, all are artifiical
Tank Size:
55 gallons
Advice:
Don't believe what pet stores tell you and always ask on a fish forum on about how to set up your first tank and don't over stock or put incompatible fish together in the same tank.

my daughter started with a 29 gal 2006 & we fell in love with the hobby. Now we have 2 55 gallon tanks. thinking about a 90 gallon. Oh and we also have 5 cats, one of which will watch the fish for however long we will let her sit in the chair in front of them.
