Corals/Plants:

Advice:
Don't go and spend $100's of dollars on your fish for your first tank because theres a good chance they'll die unless you know how to keep a tank maintained.... i made that mistake and wasted alot of money until i finally got use to everything.

Freshwater fish love freshwater!
About Yourself:
I've loved fish and marine life for virtually all my life. I find the hobby very fun, relaxing and rewarding.
Fish Kept:
Two female bettas, one bolivian ram, 6 neon tetras, 4 otos, 5 yoyo loaches.
Corals/Plants:
Two types of amazon swords, micro swords, water wisteria, some crypt type plant, marimo moss ball, java fern/moss.
Tank Size:
20 gallons
Advice:
Do A LOT of research before you get started. It'll make your life much easier because you will start things off the right way, save money, and enjoy what you're doing because you'll be doing it right. Learn what the nitrogen cycle is and most importantly DO WATER CHANGES!

About Yourself:
I am a pet store manager who has grown up with fish and is still learning more every day. This is my very first fish tank (other than the MANY bettas and guppies along the way), so any and all comments will be appreciated!
Fish Kept:
Currently:
1 Rubber-lip Plecostomus (Chaestoma milesi)
2 Otocinclus (otocinclus affinis)
10 Ghost Shrimp (Palaemonetes sp)
6 Ornate Tetras (Hyphessobrycon bentosi)
5 Columbian Red-Blue Tetras (hyphessobrycon columbianus)
Corals/Plants:
Amazon Swords (Echinodorus Bleheri and Echinodorus 'ozelot')
Cabomba (Cabomba caroliniana)
Java Moss (Vesicularia Dubyana)
Hairgrass (Eleocharis aciculari)
and a poor moss ball from my former Betta's tank (Cladophora aegagropila)
Tank Size:
46 gallons
Advice:
Do your research. No hobby is fun without some basic working knowledge of the craft! Also, remember, that even when you think you know everything, there is ALWAYS something new to learn!

About Yourself:
I am very new to this hobby (three months in!) and have become addicted! I lost three guppies and a stermia corydora when my tank was cycling, but it cycled in about two and a half weeks and my nitrite levels finally went down and haven't lost another fish.
I bought my tank, with hood and light, stand, two filters, and several filter accessories for $50 on Craigslist, have put in another $300 of decorations/accessories, and can't wait to get another tank set up! (Would like a semi-aggressive tank of clown loaches and a black ghost knife!)
Fish Kept:
3 albino corydoras,
2 stermia corydoras,
3 sunset wag platies (and a 2 week old baby!),
3 glo fish (zebra danios),
1 rubber-lipped pleco (2 inches)
1 betta splenden (siamese fighting fish)
Corals/Plants:
Artificial only
Tank Size:
30 gallons
Advice:
--Start off by slowly introducing only 3 fish at a time... you will probably lose some fish as the tank is cycling, but within a couple of weeks it will balance itself out.
--Regular water changes are a must!
--Choose hardy fish; guppies are not the strongest swimmers, and contrary to popular lore, are not the hardiest species.
