Taking short cuts in the beginning leads to deaths in the end. Take your time, cycle your tank and add fish slowly.

I am the new guy. Best thing I did was goto local aquarium store and buy book for beginners. Second best thing is Craig's List for buying used tanks. Third is finding a reliable fish store salesperson who gives me right advice on fish to purchase.
