Description: 30x12x18 acrylic tank; 135 watt power compact in canopy on a 10 hour photoperiod; was set up for overflow but fish kept ending up in sump--now using Fluval 205 canister filter and smart heater set to 77. No regular fertilization or CO2 program. Started 70% water changes weekly this month. This tank's about 9 months old. I use RO adding Equilibrium to get to 6 dH GH. Laterly I've experienced a drop in pH from 7 to 6.4 so I'm researching dosing for alkalinity or adding tap water back. May need to add a snail eater.
Advice: Always bring a fish book to the store even if you're not shopping for fish. You will avoid unwise purchases.
Fish Kept: 2 Corydoras,2 Black Neon, 2 Otocinclus 3 Crossocheilus siamensis, trying to establish a group of Neons but 6 out of 10 didn't make it : (
Corals/Plants: Hygrophila, Amazon sword, Annubias 'Nana', Cryptocoryne 'Wendtii', Red Tiger lotus, duckweed for nutrient export.
Tank Size: 29 gallons
Quote: The main thing about the main thing is to keep it the main thing.
About Yourself: Started a 10 gallon tank for my nieces one weekend. Started reading up and got interested. It relaxes me for some reason (My day job is as a finance executive). I see aquatic plants as an extension of gardening. I also maintain a 65 gallon marine tank that a professional set up for me. My goal try to keep plants and fish looking good, happy and growing together.
