About Yourself: Started with a 20 gallon tank full of fancy gold fish about ten years ago, then got into African Cichlids for a while. I was going to start up a salt water reef aquarium untill I saw a beautiful picture of a planted aquarium on the back cover of my Aquarium Usa magasine (2004 Issue) The rest is history.

Hi there! Gorgeous tank. I have 4 planted tanks, one being the most planted is my newest setup - a 55 gallon. I've had weird fish issues when dosing ferts. Can I ask a dumb question? Do you just pour in the amount of each fertilizer directly into the tank, away from the fish, or do you dilute it with water first, etc??? I have used seachem flourish and excel and had deaths in 2 tanks afterward. Neither time was overdosed, actually underdosed. I mix our hard well water with our softened water so it's mod. hard. I'm injecting p-i-t-a diy co2 and it's been inconsistent so now have lovely black brush algae. Thanks for your help and keep up the beautiful creations of art! -Tracey fish avatar
