120 gallons freshwater fish tank (mostly fish and non-living decorations) - hi, i'm dan phoenix zabala, from aqua prince, tacloban city, philippines and this is my 48 x 24 x 24 cichlid tank. i'm using 4pcs. undergravel filter connected to 4pcs. powerheads. i use plastic plants and driftwoods for my decorations. i change 5% of water everyday. i feed my fishes with live shrimps. hope u'l like my cichlid tank set-up. thanks and more power!!! p.s. sorry for the quality of my picture coz i dont have a digital camera, i just used my camera phone. tnx! why i love cichlids? bcoz i love colorful fishes. and for me, cichlids are the most colorful freshwater fishes in the world. they are very hardy, intelligent and sometimes they can rival the colors of the marine fishes. that is why i love them since i was a kid. see video pics of my award winning, show quality african cichlids at youtube. just type AWARD WINNING AFRICAN CICHLIDS. they are more beautiful, colorful and stunning than my fishes here. tnx and happy viewing.

Description: 48x24x24 tank, 1pc. 40 watts ultra violet lighting, 4pcs. dolphin undergravel filter, 4 pcs. hai yang hy-1300 powerheads, 65 pcs. plastic plants (to minimize aggresiveness of fishes), 15 pcs med large rocks asembled behind driftwoods (for hiding place), 4 pcs. large driftwoods (zig zag shape) and 2 sacks of mix color gravel..

Advice: dream, believe, survive!! that's what i do.

Fish Kept: purple parrots, blue nyassae peacocks, marble peacocks, fire peacocks, red peacocks, taiwan reef peacocks, strawberry peacocks, yellow banana peacocks, red banana peacocks, ngara peacocks, yellow prince cichlids, venustus cichlids, blue demasoni cichlids, yellow peacocks, electric blue haplochromis cichlids, codango cichlids, red empress cichlids.

Corals/Plants: plastic plants.

Saw your fish on youtube.They are absolutely beautiful.Don't think I have a favorite as they are all great specimens.

I tried another comment (3rd time) on utube and it said "pending approval". Not sure if that means you or utube that has to approve the comment? Maybe check your "utube settings"? Never ran into this problem before.

WOW!!!! This is the most beautiful Freshwater Fish Tank that I ever seen!! Very colorful fishes that contrast your plastic green plants. How I wish I had this tank! Very realistic and natural looking. You got talent in aquascaping dude. This tank deserves to be number one!!! Two thumbs up!!! Congratulations for a job well done!!!

thank u for ur comment kingcichlid. it depends if ur going fully decorated tank or no decoration tank. if fully decorated, u can house 40 pcs. 1 inch fish. i know that my tank is overstock with fishes that is why i change 5% of water everyday instead of 10% weekly. always check the quality ur water every 2 days. if no decorations, u can house 80 pcs. 1 inch size fish. but remember, fish grow. so once they grow big, u have to separate the larger fish to another tank.

wow very nice tank you got there. i know over stockin the tank makes the fish less agressive but is there ever too much fish ? since you know more about these beatiful cichlids could u tell me a good number of cichlids i should have in my 80 gallon tank thanks!

thank you for ur comment sir. yeah, parrots are south american cichlids. they are not that very aggressive unlike other south american cichlids. as long as your tank has lots of hiding place and u house lots of cichlids, they don't bully each other. :-) u got nice set-up too.

Very nice tank u have there! I see u have south american and african cichlids, do they behave well together or one group dominates the other? Parrot is south american, right? Maybe more aggression if u had mbuna? Mike
