An aquarium is not just a pretty decoration for your living room. It is a living, breathing environment and needs proper maintenance to continue thriving.
Take the time to do the research and learn how to set up and maintain. Make sure it is done properly, etc. You will be happier in the long run and so will your fish, etc.

6 Red Wag Platys - 7 Zebra Danios - 1 Blue Gourami - 1 small Pleco
Corals/Plants:
4 live sword plants - a few plastic plants - wood and rock from back yard, boiled several times and soaked over time until leaching stopped. So far no problems with it.
