240g 72x30x24 from GlassCages with Euro-bracing, drilled for filtration. Dual 400watt metal-halide 10k lights suspended 24" above the tank to light the 24" deep bog behind the tank. Water is pumped up into the bog and allowed to flow back into the tank. Mechanical filtration is Ocean Clear 380 (with UV) plus an inline heater module driven by a Quiet1One 4000 pump. There is also a homemade fluidized bed filter and CO2 reactor driven by a ReeFlo Snapper 2400GPH pump. Neptune AquaController Jr. Compressed CO2 system. Automatic top-off system. Plumbed for semi-automatic water change with pre-heated RO water from storage tank. Fertilized with PMDD.
Do your research, start with a tank of decent size so you have a margin of error on the chemistry. Get an oversized filter and use only mechanical and biological filter media (no carbon or ammonia removers). Use a plant substrate for the tank and plant heavily from the start. Use CO2 injection, whether homemade or compressed tank. make sure you have enough light, a single bulb is not enough. Research your fish choices to ensure they will get along, not outgrow your tank and don't require special water conditions. Establish and follow a consistent schedule of water changes and fertilizer dosing. Keep notes on what you do and how well it works. You will be rewarded.
