planted tank (mostly live plants and fish) - 125 gallon Tanganyikan community tank with Neolamprologus similis, Chalinochromis sp. "Ndobhoi," and Cyprichromis leptosoma "Utinta." The numerous shells littering the bottom are for the similis and are a necessary part of keeping these fish.
freshwater fish - neolamprologus brichardi - brichardi cichlid - Neolamprologus brichardi making a sharp turn, eye always on the camera disturbing his space.
freshwater fish - julidochromis transcriptus - the masked julie - Julidochromis transcriptus, a lovely species adapted to be slim so they can fit into very small caves and rockwork.
freshwater fish - lamprologus stappersi - pearly ocellatus - Male 'Lamprologus' stappersi (meleagris). He loves to show off, and he really shows why shelldwellers are such wonderful fish. Believe it or not, this fish is an inch long.
freshwater fish tank (mostly fish and non-living decorations) - (Oddly shaped) 44 gallon Tanganyikan community tank with Neolamprologus hecqui, Julidochromis transcriptus, and one Neolamprologus brichardi. The shells in the back, which are piled over rock, are a visual joke - I keep eight species of shelldwellers, so why not have some fun with shells? They work extremely well as rockwork and add a lot of color to the tank. Not to mention, the shells help keep the hardness and alkalinity up, which is important for the species I'm keeping in the tank.

Nice Tank but you should have some sand in it for the lamprologus to bury their shells. Its awesome watching them dig fish avatar
