Description: This tank is two and a half years old. It is a 20 gallon - 30x12x16 - it has 130 watt power compact light fixture(1x65 10k-1x65 actinic). The tank sits in the corner of our bedroom, it has a 5 gallon square bucket behind it that is used as a refugium. The protein skimmers pump is inside the tank and draws water from a surrface skimmer. The protein skimmer is hanging on the side of the refugium and the water exits the skimmer into the refugium. The refugium then overflows back into the main tank.
Advice: It does not have to be high tech. I use generic lights and an old protein skimmer with wood air stone. I only use iodine and calcium supplements combined with water changes
Fish Kept: Gold Stripe Maroon Clown & Watchman Goby
Corals/Plants: Bubble tip anemone, Pulsing xenia, Clove Polyps, Green Star Polyps, Crocea Clam, kenya tree, coco worm various mushrooms and zoo's. 4 turbo snails (time for more) 8 or so blue leg hermits and 1 red leg hermit
Tank Size: 20 gallons
About Yourself: After much begging my parents bought me a 10 gallon tank when I was 6 or 7. I have had fish tanks ever since (with a few breaks) My dad let me setup my first salt water tank when I was in high school .A few years later I setup a 10 gallon and then a 55 gallon reef which were both unsuccesful. After a 3 or 4 year break I setup this tank feb 2005

COMMENTS

The refugium has 20# of sand in it along with some LR rubble and chetomorpha alge. I noticed a big diffrence in the tank after adding the refugium. scott fish avatar
