Description: a top fin 20 gallon tall tank that came with a full fluorescent hood w/lamp. it also came with a free filter; aqueon quiet flow 20, for up to 30 gallons. all for $60. I have a 50 watt heater that I had from an old turtle tank. the background is from Disney's finding nemo. 20 lbs of purple gravel and the 3 centerpieces from petsmart.
Advice: take it slow adding fish. and read, read, read. I googled lots of different forums, every one has different opinions. I curbed my appetite for wanting new fish by decorating the tank instead for now.
Fish Kept: 2 female mickey mouse platy, 3 cherry barb(1 male, 2 female), 5 x-ray tetra, 1 male kribensis, 1 sunset thicklip gourami, 5 marble hatchet fish
Corals/Plants: mix of artificial plants and live plants...java fern and anubias. floating plants are hornwort and wisteria.
Tank Size: 20 gallons
About Yourself: I am a stay at home mom and my husband is in school, so he is busy studying at night, so I wanted a hobby and I love animals. when I started researching I was intrigued by how difficult it really is. I always thought you just throw fish into a tank...but that is NOT the case! I did not anticipate how much it does cost to start from scratch!!! $$$$
