Description: This is a 55 gallon aquarium with t-5 lighting(single coral life bulb) to keep temperature from rising too much, i have 2 marineland emperor 400 back filters operating and I use a vortex diatom filter once a week when I am cleaning the gravel and I do a partial water change 30 to 40% every 2 weeks. It has two glass tops and a canopy that I made to match the two door stand.I have a lot a very realistic plants that i purchaced at a place called Fish Gallery In Dallas,Tx. There are 2 fine air stones ( 1 at either end of the tank) that I only turn on once a night for a few minutes to circulate any old food that has settled in the plants and a 160 gph submersible powerhead to circulate debris and old food that I turn on briefly once a night as well.
Advice: Just do a lot of reading and ask a lot of questions and you'll develop your own ideas and what works best for you. It is very rewarding and very enjoyable.
Fish Kept: This is a community tank which has Silver Dollars. Platys, 23 Neons, 2 Plecos, 2 Cory Cats, 2 Dalmation Mollys and 2 Black Mollys and several Platy and Molly fry.
Corals/Plants: Life like artificial plants with driftwood, Texas holy rock, river rocks and petrified wood rock to make a very natural environment.
Tank Size: 55 gallons
About Yourself: When I was just a kid my mom and dad opened an aquarium shop and I learned so much about fresh and salt water care and have always enjoyed aquariums. I am in the ac/heating field and in the summer when I am so busy it is hard to devote as much time as I would like to working with my tank but it seems like I always find time someway or another.
