Hey are you sure you bought a barracuda, and not a Southern Sennet they look alot alike. When I went diving in Hawaii I thought I saw a barracuda but the guide that was with me said it was a Sennet. They are hard to tell apart, he said if it was a cuda I got that close to it would have probably attacked me they are quite aggressive predators

Sennets are a lot more meaty. They almost look like a tarpon. Barracuda are skin and bone.....more like a bonefish. But on steroids. I can see where there could be a mix up....but generally Baracudas swim in packs and are easy to spot. Sennets do not swim together as much as barracudas. A sennet is actually a cousin of the Barracuda....so they do look a lot alike in the face and body. A major difference is in the mouth. the sennet doesnt have as many teeth. This fish could be either....but from the overly aggresive nature it intially had.....I would say its indeed a cuda.

ohh and when I said the mouths were different......The Barracudas mouth is longer at the bottom than at the top.....the Sennets mouth meets to a point. :) The Sennet is generally found in northern waters as well.

Well technically a cuda and a sennet are brothers in the fish family. Thats like comparing me with my dad......Sure there are differences.....but were still family. Thtas not the typical barracuda. It doesnt have two fins on the top of his body. But it is indeed a cuda.
