About Yourself: A very costly hobby, but one we can always do together
Advice: My husband had a reef tank years ago. We just started up a new one again a several months ago and absolutely love it. It is a great hobby you can do together. Flow ! Flow ! Flow and lots of live cured Rock!!! Salinity and temperature, because one wrong element can ruin your tank. We feed alot so all of our starfish live for several months, also not everyone can keep a flame angel, coral beauty, purple and yellow tang together in the same tank so luck was on our side (IF YOU DO NOT LIKE OUR PICTURES THEN YOU DO NOT HAVE TO LOOK AT THEM, BUT VOTING 0 IS VERY NEGATIVE ON YOUR PART) PLEASE JUST MOVE ON - THANKS!!!!
Fish Kept: WE PURCHASED EVERYTHING IN OUR TANK FROM JEFF'S EXOTIC FISH IN COSTA MESA (714) 540-0880 THEY ARE VERY KNOWLEDGABLE AND CAN GET YOU STARTED EVEN IF YOU JUST WANT A LITTLE NANO TANK. THANKS GUYS!!!! About Yourself: We started saltwater aquaria in 2007 with a brthday gift from my spouse: a 95G Oceanic Wave reef tank. Within months, we were looking for a larger tank! The 95G now houses my wife's breeding seahorses, (Hippocampus Reidi) and a nice collection of zoanthids, palys and other safe corals for the seahorses...
Advice: The first and most important lesson I learned in saltwater aquaria: Be patient, grasshopper. Find an honest, experienced LFS which specializes in saltwater, join a local club, and seek advice constantly. Start with as large a tank as you can manage...that will only delay the desire to upgrade!

Advice: Youll have to spend money in this hobby. I highly recommend a Reefkeeper or Aquacontroller this was my BEST INVESTMENT to manage my temp and lighting. Many DIYs on the internet. For ex. I made a top off system for less than $20 and it works great. Rock, corals, and lighting are the most expensive, and buy a good oversized skimmer. Use ONLY RO/DI water
Fish Kept: 1 yellow tang, 4 chromis, 1 royal gramma, 1 perc clown, 1 lawnmower blenny, 2 skunk cleaner shrimp, lots of blue hermits about 8 red legged hermits, a dozen cerith snails, 15 ast snails, 1 red star fish. 1 feather duster.
Corals/Plants Kept: Leathers: Colt, 1 XL long tenticle toadstool with a baby next to it, 1 short tenticle toadstool, yellow fiji, and Xenia that gows like madness I cut it back and with in a few days there are polyps appearing. 4 colors of ricordeas with 2 dozen + mouths, lots of blue mushrooms, green rhodactis muchrooms, 100s and 100s of zoos and palys, 4 headed torch, and an red and green open brain. Huge rock with 2 morphs of long tenticle star polyps.
Tank Size: 75
Description: 75 gal drilled all glass tank with red oak canopy and stand. Reefkeeper 1 to control lighting cycle and temp with 300 watt heater in sump and a fan in the hood and a fan blowing on the sump. I maintain 77.5 to 78.5 degrees year round. 260 watt power compact. Hydor Kor 1 and Rio 400 for in tank criculation with dual spouts for returns Clear plastic bin with 10 gallons of water in sump. DIY top off (thanks to Melevesreef.com) Mag 7 for return. Berlin classic skimmer. 200 micron filter sock cleaned every 3 days. Another 200 micron filter sock for skimmer return cleaned weekly. Water is crystal clear with no microbubbles at all. I run Black diamond carbon changed monthly. Essential elements added byweekly rotated with an 8 gallon water change by weekely as well. About 90 lbs of live rock and a 2" sandbed. Never had to cycle the tank Always maintained 0 for AMM. NITRATE, NITRITE and PHOSPHATES. Used to dose kalk, but cal is stable at 420 to 440.
