Aquascaping

by FRMNUTN2SUMTN4672

guys ..take a look at this site...This is along the lines of how I want to aquascape my tank the the LR comes in the event I decide to get corals. Zip ties and egg crate and a couple of drilled holes in the rock. Does anyone see any potential problems down the road(buildup in the little squares on the bottom, etc) Also if the structure takes up 40-50% of the tank, when I do water changes I would only be able to vacuum the exposed section of the tank. Will this affect water params as well? Thanks !

WOW that looks great!!!! - -my question is the same - -will the foam affect the water - - on a side note if you've never used that "great stuff" beware it expands 4-5 times the size you dispense - - i use it in cnstruction for sealing door and widow frame outs from draft - -it is great stuff - - - man that looks cool !!!

could you do the same thing with a masonary drillbit and some lexan pins - -i went to my local glass shop and he said he could get 1/4 and 3/8 lexan rod -10 bucks for a 5 foot section - - thats a lot of pins bud...lol and then epoxy em in there - -no need for the urithane and sand stuff - -you could get real crazy looking with the pins too - -almost suspend rocks out there for coral shelves and such - -man my gears are turnin now...lol -good find man

i'd still put some kind of reinforcement "rods" or something in there for sturdyness - -i bet we would all be supprized to feel the force of some of the currents we're generating in out tanks - -not to mention lil creatures burowing and stuff like that

this would be a good "glue" for pins

when you cut the crate make it as small as possible but a sturdy base{not to tip over}. also you could pin your base rock above the sand line to the effect of a floating reef
