Should have a category for biotopic aquariums. Reproduction of natural environment. Fish from same place, aquascaping to reproduce fishes natural surroundings for both viewers and fishes pleasure.

isnt that basically the idea of our aquariums.....I have a reef tank and I try to get it as close to the real thing as possible. clams, worms, crabs, snails, algae, mangroves, sand, bristeworms, shrimp, fish, corals,lighting,temp,ph,salinity,calcium,alkalinity,iron,magnesium,copepods,amphipods,photoperiod,seasons......and if thats not enough. Jesus I quit! haha.

call it what you want man.........thats a beautiful tank !!! very well laid out

i think like Blue said, for the most part people try to recreate natural environments with their tanks.............i would say thats the diference between an aquarists and a fish tank keeper..............

Where did blue post? haha lost me boss. But I do agree with that statement completly. http://www.aquahobby.com/board/viewtopic.php?t=29491 Scroll down a little........ The top aquarium is a fish tank.........the bottom is an environment. and it recreates the wild very nicely I think.

I think biotope aquariums should definitely have their own category. It takes a lot more thought and research to find fish and plants from a specific region and make a natural looking habitat. Nice aquarium Doc, but where are the pink plants and Greek columns ??? LOL
