90 Gallon Reef - 2 years old. |
| Quote: |
What we do in life now, echoes in eternity. |
| About Yourself: |
Bit by the saltwater bug! |
| Advice: |
The bigger and longer the tank the better. Good water flow is a must in order to eliminate dead spots. A deep sand bed (minimum 4") as well as good live rock and a powerfull skimmer can help keep nitrates at 0 PPM, and water changes to a minimum. A properly set up refugium with Macro Algae can also aid with excess nutrients. Read all marine keeping books, especially "The Reef Aquarium" Vol 1, 2, and 3. Last but not least, Dont shy away from this hobby on the first signs of trouble. Marine aquarium keeping gets easier and easier as the tank matures. If trouble arises, internet forums can be of great help when questions need answering. |

| About Yourself: |
I started as a cichlid hobbyist, turned breeder. After breeding 50 or so species of cichlids I tore down my 30 tank/1000+ gallon fish room, and built my dream in-wall reef tank in the summer of '07. I now spend hours at a time pressed against the glass of my reef. |
| Advice: |
It's cheaper and less frustrating to do it right the first time than to upgrade later.
