Grape vine wood

What's your opinion on it? Is it safe or isn't it?

I have access to some but I don't want to use it if it could potentially ruin the water quality of my tank.

I wouldn't use grapevine in any of my tanks. Once in, grapevine often takes on a fungus. It's also likely to be laced with pesticide.

I think some people have issue with grapevine because it hasn't been cured properly. If it's not 100% pesticide free and if the bark hasn't been taken off then this is a risk.

Yes, I think the bark needs to be sandblasted off. Whether or not this will prevent the fungus from growing, I don't know, but I certainly wouldn't put grapevine in an aquarium without sandblasting it first.
