Do I need to wait until spring to set up a pond? Can you do a common goldfish pond in the southern states in the winter? Are baby goldfish more susceptible to the cold?

Shameless bump.

I was thinking of starting up the pond in Feb - or is that too soon? Should I wait until mid March or so? I've tried it out because I already have the pond and the water IS ice cold... but then, I have it in a shady spot at the moment. I can always move it.

Hmm, it's hard to say. I mean, I guess there wouldn't really be a difference to the fish (other than acclimating) if they're already used to being in a cold pond? E.g. if you bought them from someone local.

Have you got a thermometer? What's the temperature in your pond read?

No I actually don't have a thermometer. I'll have to get one and see just how cold it is. Thanks
