I know these are predatory fish so choosing tankmates for them is a bit tricky. What species do you think would be okay with them?
Also are there any plants that wouldn't be okay with them? I know they wouldn't eat plants, but being bottom dwellers would they potentially damage plants or dig them up etc?
Probably a senegal bichir is what I'm planning on, by the way. Just in case this alters certain recommendations.

What size would the tank be?
Ropefish would work. I think leopard ctenopoma and knifefish would be okay too.
I'd suggest bala sharks, but they need such massive tanks.

I'm not sure what plants might be too delicate, but bear in mind if you have a planted tank that bichirs aren't fond of bright lights (which are necessary for growing plants of course) so it'll need a dark place it can hide while the lights are on. A cave or something like that.
