I am new to this hobby but I want the best for my fish and plants (that I will buy once my tank is set up).

What substrates are good to buy in the UK? for a planted (and fish), freshwater, tropical aquarium? I have a 38x38x43cm nano tank 60L with a 24W Scrapers light.

At the bottom layer I want the substrate that will help the plants grow. Then on top of that I want white gravel so it looks nice. Towards the edges of the tank I want some red desert sand because I think it looks great. I can do that right?

Please help I have read 1000 articles but they are all about substrates that you can buy in America like Eco-Complete and Activ-Flora......what is good to buy from the UK?
