Snails & Setting up tank after 6 years in storage
How long can snail eggs survive in dry storage? I am considering getting my old tank out and setting it up again. The tank has been packed away in a box for 6 years. Before I tore it down, I had a terrible snail infestation. The snails left tiny eggs stuck to the side of the tank. They were everywhere. They look like little yellow dots under a clear protective coating. If I set up this tank again, will these eggs grow & hatch? I don't want to deal with that again. Does anyone know?

this is a huge shame to hear, i dont quite know the answer to your question however if you do set your tank up and still have a snail problem there are lots of ways to get rid of them, buying a yoyo-loach is always a good start i would avoid clown loaches which people say work i had 3 and they were bloody useless. however i brought two yoyo-loaches and boom with in a week all the snails in the tank were gone.

I have also heard that assassin snails can do the trick.

Assassin snails work great. I've got a few in my tank.
