I would not mind having some cladophora in my tank as long as it was not blanketing my java moss.
Maybe I will pull some out and get myself a "plant" growing.
Everyone should also know there is no fish that will eat up this moss.
Anyway, I might have gone the route you go with your planted tank, but I was taught differently.
It is good for people to know there is more than one way to establish a healthy planted tank, you just have to
find what works for you.

i think if i do get the hornwort then i'll grow it in it gravel, letting it float would just bother me. i'd be constantly moving it around and when i clean the tank it would get in my way. but i still love how it looks. & i just use the regular light that comes with the tank, i'd never want to chance getting a higher wattage because knowing my luck my tank would be swamped with algae. so i'll just stick to the basics for now and not push my luck.
stingray your tank is amazing. that's the overal natural look i'm going to strive for. i've found that i've grown past the get what's only 'pretty' stage and am leaning towards a much more natural look, which in my opinion is much nicer to look at then the cutsie things that i used in the past.
once again guys thanks for all the info.

I am starting a new 46g tank. I had the same questions MayhemMonkey did too.
I found a lot of helpful info in this thread.
I have a co2 kit, a t8 light and big al's brand liquid fertilizer.
Is there a test kit to test levels of fertilizer in a tank?
I read that high levels can be harmful to the fish.
