slate in a FOWLR tank

by joyce123

I was wondering if anyone had ever put slate pieces in a SW tank...... i want to put some in a new FOWLR tank but dont know if it will work......i just think it would look pretty cool, and it would be something i personally have never seen......

Jdak,
what do you think?
and i ordered my MH setup today and it should be here in 7 days..... (yeah)
also picked up a flame angel, copperbanded butterfly, beauty coral, and a hippo tang......

Well, i don't think it would be the greatest natural setting. More of a lake rock. I try to base my tank as an indo pacific reef. If you don't mind it, it wouldn't be a problem. It would become live at some point and hopefully get some color to cover its surface. Only other issue i could think of is that it isn't porous at all. Porous rock is where small inverts and filter feeding life thrives.

Hows that puffer doing? Is this going to be a reef or a FOWLR? You know those angels you have aren't really that reef safe and i wouldn't trust then with sensitive SPSs.
