I like the sand and is about all I use in most of my tanks.
The sand is easy to clean as the debri sits on the top, so you know where to siphon out.

I'm sure my situation is different but i just turn mine with a turkey baster. Never really need to vacuum.

Yeah, you don't have a lot of fish or dead rotting plant matter so you just turn it over with a turkey baster.

TY. and yours is really really unique. You know, I love the tanks that are different from others, and yours definitely is. It is so easy to make a cookie cutter tank, but now yours.... is not.
I definitely would not mind looking at that in my living room. Nice job.

how the heck did you boil that huge log? I read you need to boil it for like 2-3 hours to remove the tannin in?? Idk but I have some awesome driftwood I could put in there right now just not gots a pan big enough :( Buuut if that first pic is how your tank started wow huge improvement. It was wayyy too busy. I just love seeing evolving tanks!

thanks everyone.
I did not boil the driftwood.
You do not need to boil it. Yes, it helps to remove some of the tannis, but other than that there is no need
to. I have never had a problem with something like a piece of driftwood poisoning my tank.

Your tank looks great
The cardamine I have kept has small leaves

I have kept a plant that looks like yours brazilian pennywort

but it is a little hard to see the leaf in the pics I have kept several plants in the Hydrocotyle family they all have the ivy look.

I rescaped my tank. Check it out.
