hair algae

by somalia123

i have been having a hair algae problem for a while and i have tried a couple different things to get rid of it. I recently had to move my tank, during the move i scrubbed the hair algae off of the live rock with a tooth brush(this was the only thing that worked),but i did not want to do that to a couple of my corals. I tried a product called algae magic that i had to add every couple of weeks, and it did nothing. i tried another product called stop hair algae and that did nothing. i have a phosphate reactor and my phosphates are always low. i have heard that turning off my lights for a couple days will fix my problem but im a little nervous. if anyone has any suggestions they would be greatly appreciated

try a yellow tang /fox face or algea bleny.personaly i like the tang they will make short work of algae. make sure you dont have detritus sitting on rocks . you might need more water movement

How bad is it? All over the tank, or rocks only?
