I understand. I love filters. I have 2 Penguin 150's on my 37 gallon. Each with 2 filter pads and an extra media bag of charcoal. If I could stuff more in there, I would.

I'm also obsessed with the appearance of hardware, too. If you have Penguins, you know about the little grey, plastic lever that adjusts the second intake at the middle of intake tube. The rest of the visible part of the unit is jet black, but they made this piece, that sits dead center of the tank, a light gray. I finally removed them from each filter. Much happier..... And I can stop photo-shopping them out of my pics....

my penguins are covered by a layer of lush green algae... in my african tanks it is covered by a lush purple algae... they just blend into the rockwork and slate backrounds... i usually just take off the grey lever things... since my intake strainers are pretty high up because of the sand...
