pH tests -- color charts or digital meters?

by zambize

I've mentioned in other threads that my pH is a struggle, and that's why I'm considering buying a digital pH tester. I have a hard time discerning between some of the colors on a color chart for one thing. Also, my pH is somewhat unstable so I test very frequently and I really need to *know* what it is.

I've been using an API test that includes a low-range and high-range pH test. I've been using the high-range because that's where my pH usually falls. One day I ran the low-range for the heck of it, and the two tests contradicted one another. I bought a completely different pH test and it contradicted the other two. I can't imagine that my procedure is wrong...it's pretty simple.

I'm beyond frustrated and I have no confidence regarding any of these tests and I feel that I have no idea what my pH is! Does anyone use a digital tester? Do you know anything about them? Opinions?
