My tank isn't level -- how serious is this?

by Zambize4899

I hadn't noticed until last night, but my 20 gallon tank isn't level. It appears to be almost 1/4" off. I know it is important that the tank is level...is 1/4" serious?

My tank is on a cement floor in the basement.(29 gallon) It is about 1/8th to 1/4 of an inch out of level. The back is higher than the front but its been set up for some time now and I haven't had any problems. If your tank is already setup and you aren't having any problems I wouldn't have too much concern about it unless it's drastically out of level.
The problem with an out of level tank is 1 side will have more weight on it then the other sides.

level is a relavent term..........i think the lost important issue is "flat" if the bottom of the tank is flat and soloid you shouldn't have any problems.............now if you were to put something under one end to make it level and basically suspended the middle of the tank............well now your asking for trouble as the tank bottom would only be supported on each end {we've all read the explodeing tank post eh?}

and 1/4 inch is a pretty small amount to be off {unless your a man, than every 1/4 inch counts, LMAO}

The "exploding tank" thread is *precisely* why I got worried about 1/4"! I'm waiting for a tank to explode. That's the stuff of nightmares. My tank is flat on a sturdy desk so I'm going to assume it's ok.

Maybe I should say it's 1/2" off....since men always round up when dealing with inches.
