Most desirable pleco wood ?

by asher

What variety of wood do plecos really like? I have cholla but I don't know if this is best or if the plecos (bristlenose and I think a candy striped) are chewing it.

Mopani? That's about all I can think of. Sorry I don't know of many driftwood names!

Mopani might be a bit hard. Cholla is soft so probably good though.

I'm not sure how much rasping bristlenoses do anyway (would still always supply driftwood for them!)
And I don't know what a candy striped's requirements are - I assume they do need wood to rasp on.

Definitely maylasian. It is very dense and heavy. It still stains the water after 5 years. My royal and gold nugget Plecos chew on it day and night. They also like the Manzanita wood too, but not as much.

Yeah Malaysian is a favorite!

Mopani can potentially cause health issues for wood eating plecos due to how hard it is. I believe they have trouble digesting it?
