I had one, and I was never able to hand feed it. It was always hiding, and the one time I tried to hand feed it, it pinched me, it usually ate whatever left over food my fish didn't eat, and occasionally i fed it bloodworms and such. Be careful with them though, as mine ate a lot of my fish, including a $40 pleco. Also, they are extrealmy good escape artists, they can get out of your tank and disappear. I have had two escape, never to be seen (or smelled) again.

There is a blue strain of neocaridina (like cherry shrimp are a red strain) on aquabid that I've been looking at and thinking of getting. They stay small and don't eat fish as much. Link: http://www.aquabid.com/cgi-bin/auction/ ... 1342556088
I like their color http://images60.fotki.com/v361/photos/4 ... 342-vi.jpg
