Male mbuna with peacocks isnt a very good idea from what ive seen especially kenyi's. But this is what ive seen for myself. Im not saying that the posts above me about keeping mbuna's and peacock's together isnt possible, just keep in mind that there are risks involved! Mbuna can be very aggressive fish.

I ended up getting three peacocks and two black calvuses. Not sure the gender of the peacocks. They are still juveniles, but all three are already very colorful. The black calvuses are tiny and adorable. I was considering getting three yellow labs. My LFS tells me that they are less aggressive than most mbuna species. Does anyone have experience with mixing yellow labs with peacocks? Alternately, i will get three more peacocks. I'm really loving them.

Electric Yellows are gorgeous and fairly peaceful, they are mixed in with many other cichlids.
I'm gonna throw a few in with my maingano to splash up the colour a bit, not that the maingano are pretty, just more for omething a bit different.
Maingano are cantankerous little beasties though *L*
Cichlid sand isnt a must have.....i dont have any in with mine and they are doing brilliantly

In most cases you can in fact mix Yellow Labs with some of the more aggressive Peacocks and be okay! I'd say the only other mbuna that would possibly work would be the Rusty's or Acei. So, good choice with the yellow labs!
