Aquarium Filter Question

by jim150454

I recently bought a Fluval 205 external filter and set it up in my new tank that I had just started to cycle and get ready for fish.

When I got it up and running it wasn't nearly as powerful as I'd thought, even with the flow turned up to the max it only creates ripples on the surface.

I'm wondering whether or not I need some sort of aeration device as well as the filter. I plan to put real plants in the tank but I don't know whether it will be enough.

I would greatly appreciate any help.

200litres is actually 53US gals approx (what they state on the box is incorrect)

OP
The 205 is leaving the tank underfiltered on 200litres, really it should have a 305 on it. You are, in all chances, going to need to run at least 1 internal filter with it (personally i'd be looking at 2), or change to a 305
