If there was red things hanging from the fish's anus it could be Camallanus worms (contagious) and unless treated this WILL be fatal to all your fish, and even with treatment sometimes they just dont make it....by the late stages fish shimmy, fin clamped, then death.

if your betta fish are still alive they might be the problem if any fish looks like a nother male betta (like a guppy because of the tail and some mollys)i would remove the male betta and put him in his one little tank and see if they still die

The local pet store didn't have an API kit and i didnt have enough money at the time to buy a test kit. I will get one tomorrow. My male betta is a pansy, he doesn't do anything. He doesn't nip other fish he is really non aggressive. He rarely chases the female around. I think I will get the strips as the liquid test kit is a bit expensive for a 15 year old on a small wage. Hahah. Thanks for the info on ich yashercoach, im pretty sure it is camallanus. The fish don't seem to be dying like they did in the early days of the disease. I haven't lost one (apart from the baby guppie) for about 5 days. I won't get another ghost fish. My PH is 7.0. I got a 400 litre per hour filter and a 200 watt heater. Is it allright if there is a small current in the fish tank? It is at the back of the tank and is from the filter. What is too strong? The fish always swim into the current. How do I stop all my plants from leaning to one side? I used to have a molly that would constantly nip at the male guppies fins. The betta never did this. This is my filter and this is my heater.

your heater is fine...as for the filter, your best bet is a Marineland Penguin Bio-Wheel 200 (or 200 gallons per hour/gph)
see other thread for current
once you get the test kit for ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, and if you can, ph (both low and high ph), and a temperature stick on strip we can provide you with much better advice once you give us the readings

I think the 1000th post was for the "Black Algae in my planted tank" thread
