New To Saltwater

by BertJones

Im new to saltwater and was wondering what is the best type of filter to use?
I plan on getting a 55 gallon tank
I only want 3-4 fish and live rock and coral
Ive been reading some things online about different filters but really cant decide.
i also want to hide as much as possible. i was kind of leaning more towards a wet/dry filter.

no filter at all. just a skimmer and powerheads would be just fine. wet/dry are good if its going to be a fish only but sense you are adding lr, that will be sufficient. if you would like anymore help, check me out at http://007chan.org
i have an aquatics board there for anybody to use.

I def need a protein skimmer because you are going to have live coral. You also need like a hang on back filter, wet/dry filter, or a canister filter. Canister filters are nice to have because they hide under your tank and they remove some of the dirt from your tank so that it looks nice and clean. Just using a protein skimmer alone will not keep your water crystal clear. So I recommend using a good skimmer and a canister filter.
